The Banfi Story
Andreas Banfi was an Hungarian, who decided to tackle the hair loss he began to suffer in his thirties by developing his own ‘tonic’.  He discovered an old 17th Century botanical book in the military library where he was based, and he set about collecting herbs to recreate the old remedies he’d found.
Sixteen years later, after much experimenting – Andreas believed he had hit upon something & he sold his formulation to a Hungarian state owned company who conducted various tests (including trials at Budapest University Hospital) and eventually launched the product to market.

The subsequent range of Banfi Manex haircare products containing its unique blend of 10 botanical extracts, reached the UK in 1980 and Power Health bought the rights to manufacture and sell them in 1986.
 

Unique Blend Of Botanical Extracts
The original Banfi formula included herbs such as Juniper Berry, Horse Radish, Marjoram and Mustard Seed – all known to be good for the hair in different ways.  The formula has been improved with the addition of Nettle, Mullein Flower, Rosemary, Chamomile, Lavender and Comfrey.
Horseradish - helps stimulate blood circulation in the scalp
Mustard Seed – improves blood flow to the hair follicles
Marjoram – antiseptic properties cleanse and invigorate, helping to remove excess oil and dead skin cells
Juniper Berry – antiseptic and stimulant properties, improving blood flow to the scalp
Lavender – calming, soothing and antiseptic properties
Nettle – anti-dandruff properties and helps rejuvenate tired looking hair & add shine
Rosemary – traditionally used to combat dandruff and to stimulate blood flow to the scalp.
Chamomile – anti-inflammatory & antiseptic properties help to promote a healthy scalp
Mullein – soothing & healing properties
Comfrey – soothes the scalp and softens hair

New Beginnings
In 2012 the Banfi Manex range was given a complete make over with new packaging and an SLES and parabens free formulation..
New to the range is the Anti Dandruff Treatment - a unique leave on product which continues to act on the cause of dandruff for longer than traditional anti-dandruff shampoos.
