FOLIC ACID 400UG

The Government’s Chief Medical Officers advise that all women
planning a pregnancy should take a 400μg folic acid supplement daily from the start of trying to conceive until the 12th week of pregnancy.
Folic acid is important during pregnancy because levels fall in the
mother due to increased red blood cell production in the early stages of pregnancy. In addition, some birth defects like neural tube defects (e.g. spina bifida) are less likely to develop when folic acid is
supplemented in the mother’s diet.
